Temporomandibular joints (TMJ) are the hinged portion of the jaw located in front of the ears. There are two TMJs, one on each side of the head. The functions of these joints are to allow one to speak, eat and yawn.

TMJ dysfunction is the inflammation of these joints.
The symptoms of TMJ dysfunction are:

  • Popping, locking and clicking of the jaw

  • Difficulties in opening the jaw

  • Severe and recurring headaches

  • Pain in the ears, temples and/or neck

  • Occasional hearing loss

  • Dizziness

  • Hearing ringing sounds

  • Neck pain / neck stiffness

  • Sensitive teeth
